To Whom It May Concern:
On a Tuesday morning in August 1994,
Brian Fuller welcomed me as his work-study with an almost impossible to-do list. On June
of 1998, I graduated knowing Brians full merit and worth to not only myself, but
also Montreat College as a whole.
Since our first meeting, he has
become a superb guide on my quest for knowledge, talent and faith. Brian not only offered
endless hours of aid with my studies, which were not necessarily for classes he taught,
but he also gave hours of counsel challenging my personal faith and life goals.
Brians wife and kids became my family as well, through dinners at his house, movie
nights and Christmas parties.

During my tenure at
Montreat, I acted in or directed a play under Brian every semester. Brian brought God to
the stage, his basis for theater instruction. He showed me through faith how to find a
character, whether it was a minor role in a little-known one-act play or a major role as
Amanda in The Glass Menagerie. He watched as I discovered that through faith that I
found faith. All the while, Brians challenges fueled me to find answers I never knew
I had the questions for. |

Standing
on the steps of Anderson Auditorium in my graduation gown demonstrated the breadth of
Brians character. It was hearing Brian sob, sniffle and blow his nose; watching him
hug other students and laugh through tear-filled eyes. It made me realize the depth of his
compassion to instill, to challenge, and to treasure individuals fortunate enough to
become his best friend for four, short years.
Brian continues to be my mentor and
one of my closest friends. He is and will continue to be an example of strength,
compassion and wisdom in areas that continually astound me: from writing & speech,
film & stage, to love & family.
Sincerely,
Melissa A. Brown
