Thanks for your interest in the Mustard Seed film project.  The Mustard Seed School is an extraordinary institution where art instruction infuses almost every other subject; where the affluent model common in Christian education is replaced by an intentional ministry to the urban poor; where diversity is a practice, not a policy.

I’ll introduce audiences to the school in a half-hour documentary and in a series of webisodes designed to share pedagogical ideas from the Mustard Seed to teachers around the world.

In January 2010, a student crew amassed a staggering 130 hours of footage.   Generous grant funding from the Kuyers Institute, the Calvin Alumni Association, and the Mustard Seed School Foundation now allows me to hire a team of three student editors:  one will log, capture, and organize footage during the spring semester; two more will assist me in compiling the film in the five weeks following graduation (May 24 - June 25),  Graduating seniors are welcome to apply.  Stipends range from $1000-$2000.

Because the editors will be paid an hourly wage, their ability to work imaginatively and on-deadline is essential.  Facility with Avid and ProTools software are thus highly desireable.

Applicants will submit the following by 10 March 2010:

- production reel of fewer than three minutes (vimeo file link preferred, DVD acceptable).
- 1000-word essay (in .pdf form) explaining the fit of this project into their educational or career plan
- resume (web address preferred, .pdf file acceptable)

- completion of a timed editing exercise (to be scheduled with professor).

Decisions will be posted 12 March 2010.
